“Swing Into Retirement” Gift Ideas

I have had two co-workers retire within weeks of each other. One is a huge fan of the New York Yankees, and the other enjoys playing golf.

Because these men like the swing of a baseball bat or a golf club, I’ve named this gift idea “Swing into Retirement.”

John loves his Yankees and for his gift his co-workers ordered an original New York Yankees Louisville Slugger bat with his name engraved on it. They also got him a wooden baseball bat holder so he can display the bat on his wall.

Each employee signed the bat with a black Sharpie. Afterwards, the bat was sprayed with a thin layer of clear lacquer paint to preserve the signatures.

He also received a pair of tickets to see the New York Yankees play the Texas Rangers.

Since Phil loves to play golf, he was given eight rounds of golf to play at four local public golf courses and a box of personalized Titleist Pro V1 golf balls from Golfballs.com.

Printed on each golf ball were the words:  This Ball Hit a Long Way by Retiree.  Yes, he thought it was funny too! There are several clever sayings you can choose from when ordering personalized golf balls or you can make up your own.

Phil’s retirement gifts were presented to him in a small replica golf bag cooler that holds six cans of his favorite beverage – Diet Coke!

To use the same theme of “Swing into Retirement,” you could also give these retirement gifts: porch swings, hammocks and hanging chaise lounger canopy chairs. Tennis and racquetball racquets for the athletic retiree would also follow the same idea.

Giving a gift that will fit the recipient’s hobby or retirement plans is definitely a swing in the right direction!

I’ve heard my retired friends say they didn’t know how they had time to work!
