College Graduation Gifts for Networking in Style

A college graduate needs to be prepared for networking events.

Networking is often a critical component of career success. Say it with me, “It’s not what you know, it’s WHO you know.”

When my husband graduated with his Master’s degree, I gave him two gifts that would allow him to network in style.

Thoughtful College Graduation Gifts for Him

His first gift was a watch made of natural wood. Wooden watches look amazing, professional and serve as a conversation piece.

They come in different colors depending on the type of wood you choose, and they’re very lightweight.

No one can show up at a networking event without business cards. So for my husband’s second graduation gift I gave him a wooden business card holder engraved with his initials.

T-Shirt of the Month Subscription

If your son, dad, brother, boyfriend or husband practically lives in t-shirts, this gift is perfect!

Zero Gravity Patio Lounge Chair for Dad

We have patio furniture but when my husband said he’d like to include a lounge chair that reclines, I immediately filed it away for a Father’s Day gift.

The older we get the more we enjoy sitting and relaxing on our patio. It’s so wonderfully peaceful.

During my search, I found several lounge chairs to choose from and finally decided on a reasonably priced Caravan Sports Infinity Zero Gravity Chair.

This lightweight reclining lounge chair features a sturdy frame and requires no assembly. I was impressed it folds down to 6.3 inches wide for storage. That’s slim!

It reclines smoothly and has both an adjustable headrest and lumbar support. The fabric (described as long-lasting outdoor grade fabric) looks and feels like the more expensive patio furniture I’ve seen.

For me, I’m good about keeping the outside of my car clean during the summer when I don’t mind washing it in my driveway or at the self-service car wash.

But in the winter, fuhgeddaboudit. It’s too cold for me to care!

Then there’s my husband, who practically washes his car once every week. If he goes longer than two weeks, it really starts to bug him.

Even though we don’t have the exact same cleanliness standards when it comes to our cars, my husband and I would both enjoy receiving the same gift – a gift card to use for things like car washes, auto detailing and car waxes. (Psst… don’t tell my husband but he’s getting one for Valentine’s Day!)

My husband likes to receive a new billfold every couple of years either for his birthday or Christmas. It’s always on his list because he doesn’t like his billfold to look tattered and worn.

Randy specifically prefers trifold wallets.

Over the years, my mother took over the billfold gift giving. She liked giving him what he wanted, but she didn’t like him knowing what the gift was going to be.

She was all about the surprise. So she would place different amounts of cash in the billfold. Her favorite type of billfold contained hidden compartments or zippers where she could hide the money.

My husband enjoys wearing different styles of watches. He has dress watches, sport watches, chronograph watches, and LED watches.

Come to think of it, he really is a collector of watches. I suggested to our sons to get him a watch for Father’s Day but not just any watch.
